Boosting Confidence with Cosmetic Dentistry

A recent study from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry revealed that about 99.7% of Americans believe that smile is an important asset. A pretty and perfect smile boosts a person’s self-esteem. Today, with better dental technologies, there are more ways than ever to get your fix for a perfect smile from your dentist. Here are some dental procedures that you may need that could help boost your self-confidence:

Bleaching is one of the most popular teeth-whitening processes. Discoloration of teeth commonly occurs from certain food intake, smoking, and for some, from a certain hereditary disorder that affects teeth. Bleaching helps remove teeth stain.

Bonding is the process where a tooth-colored material made out of composite resin plastic is used to fill the gaps on the teeth. Though it only requires a single visit, bonding can last for years. Like natural teeth, however, it can discolor.

A crown covers a damaged tooth and shaped according to the desired normal form and appearance. Crowns are often used to restore a broken or decayed tooth or cover a large filling. They may be made of porcelain, ceramic, glass, or gold alloy.

Veneers are the more expensive alternative to crowns. They are made of porcelain or plastic and used to treat misshapen, uneven, and crooked teeth. Often they are custom-made.

Contouring and reshaping

Tooth contouring is used to shape crooked, chipped, or irregularly shaped or overlapping teeth. This procedure is used to change the length, shape and position of the teeth. Patients who undergo this procedure actually have healthy teeth.
