The Importance of Smiles and How Veneers from a Dentist Solve Problems

Despite some trends that surface in social media nowadays, it’s still the smile that most people notice and care about. A dazzling set of evenly-shaped ivories can go a long way.

The Relevance of Smiles

The results of a survey by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) show that most people place a high value on a person’s smile. First off, almost all adults (99.7 percent) believe that a smile is a valuable social asset. On the other hand, 96 percent believe that an attractive smile enhances a person’s appeal to the opposite sex. Meanwhile, about 74 percent thinks that an unattractive smile negatively affects career success.

The AACD is not alone in these conclusions. Many other studies and surveys present similar findings, like more people associating good personality with straight teeth, good smiles improving social lives, and crooked teeth reducing confidence.

Cover Up: Veneers for Chipped Teeth

BackMountainDentalIt doesn’t take a lot to chip teeth, especially if you live a particularly active lifestyle. Even if you don’t, though, some of the everyday things you do could chip away at your pearly whites. Some food, like nuts, taco shells, and raw carrots, can be too hard for teeth to handle.

One of the best solutions for damaged teeth is dental veneers. These thin pieces of porcelain or composite resin are designed to bond with your teeth and restore their appearance. They can also protect chipped teeth from decay or infections. Continue reading

Veneers: Just One Way a Dentist can Fix Your Teeth

Are your teeth discolored, misaligned, worn down, or broken? You can visit a cosmetic dentist in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and get some dental veneers for these issues. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or ceramic that are permanently bonded to your teeth. These prosthetics combine function and form quite seamlessly, making them the choice of many experienced dentists in the U.S. and the rest of the world.BackMountainDental

The procedure for getting veneers is quite simple. First, your teeth are examined by the dentist to see if they’re viable for veneers or not. If the teeth are too badly damaged or deteriorated, the dentist may recommend dental implants, crowns, or bridges instead. Second, some enamel from your teeth are removed to make way for the bonding process. Third, an impression of your teeth is made by the dentist, which will then be used to create the veneers themselves. Once they’re done, the veneers are then fused to your teeth using a bonding material like a composite resin.

With veneers, you can enjoy the benefits of having stronger, prettier, and more natural-looking teeth without having to wear dentures or implants like many people do. That said, you’ll have to be more careful around hot and cold foods from this point on because the removal of some enamel in your teeth makes them more sensitive to temperature. It’s also best for you to be mindful of what you bite; very hard materials like bones and ice can still damage your veneers.

Until Tech Catches Up, Veneers are the Way to Go

Technological advancements are making waves in the dental health industry, as computers are now being integrated to create dental crowns more efficiently. This is indeed good news for everyone, as dental health is an important component of a person’s overall well-being.

While this revolutionary technology is currently employed by state-of-the-art dental offices to create dental crowns, only time will tell if its use can be extended to the entire field of cosmetic dentistry, particularly in making dental veneers.
